We learned that the first shuttle was scheduled to depart for the cruise terminal around 9 AM for a cost of just $39 per person. Thus, we hopped on this opportunity in hopes of boarding the ship a bit earlier. The Disney’s Oceaneer Club features a number of well-themed play areas. These include the Fairytale Hall, Marvel Superhero Academy, Star Wars Cargo Bay, Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, and Mickey and Minnie’s Captain Deck.
Would I go on Disney Wish Without Kids?
We didn’t use the pools while we were onboard, and I don’t feel like a lot of other people did either. Between intermittently bad weather and well, the pools just being very little, I didn’t see a ton of people using them. If you’re a first-time cruiser with Disney Cruise Line, be sure to take a look at our tips if this is your first Disney Cruise. Since the Wish has sparked many a family to take their first Disney cruise, it’s important to go prepared, because these cruises aren’t like any other.
Family-Friendly Peru Tourist Attractions
This could be because the ship is new, or because the itineraries are short. Generally, the best activities are on longer voyages, or at least voyages with more days at sea. Even if you take away any comparison between ships, the fact is that these spaces are either too small for what they are hosting, or they are just awkward. Why they felt the need to get rid of D Lounge is beyond me, but it wasn’t a great choice.
Cabins on Disney Wish Offer Space for All and Enchanted Decor
All concierge guests aboard the Disney Wish are invited to enjoy exclusive access to the Concierge Lounge and a VIP sun deck on Deck 13 with whirlpools and a wading pool. In addition to the kids clubs, the dinner shows are fantastic and exemplars of themed design and/or storytelling. Like the other Disney Ships, Disney Wish features a Senses spa onboard.
For the First Time in Forever
Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and The Wasp are regulars here as kids team up, select their super suit, and battle infamous villains of the Marvel Universe. Once you’ve enjoyed your lazy lift to the top of the ride, the lift hill ends and the raft takes off for a brief splashy downhill ride. If you don’t mind shelling out just a bit of cash, you can add on wines, beer, sodas, specialty coffees, juices, and the like. The food is good enough, but this experience is all about the show. For the most up-to-date testing, masking, and vaccination requirements aboard Disney Wish, please refer to Disney Cruise Line's health and safety protocols. Beautiful artwork situated above the headboard of the bed changes based on deck and cabin category, highlighting Disney movies like Frozen, Cinderella, The Princess and the Frog, or Moana, to name a few.
How is the Wish Different from Other Disney Cruise Line Ships?
We booked our cruise 10 months in advance via a travel agent who specialized in Disney experiences and who had been on the ship herself. She handled all of the booking details, issues, transfers, and more. I highly recommend using a planner when booking at Disney if you are able. On the Wish, the highly themed Nightingale's, Bayou, Rose, and Star Wars Hyperspace lounges were dotted throughout the ship versus being in an adult-only section. The other Disney ships have a central atrium where guests embark and are welcomed aboard. But the Wish's Grand Hall is open and airy — more of a multipurpose space with a stage and balcony.

Unfortunately though, they were all sold out by the time we visited the venue. Finally, all guests sailing on Disney Wish are sure to be enchanted by the Grand Hall. With a grand staircase, the starry chandelier, and a life-sized Cinderella statue, the décor is opulent. This area even evolves throughout the day from a gathering space to a theater through the use of special effects, culminating the evening with a special Kiss Goodnight light show. If you don’t like lines or crowds, embark and disembark the ship as early as possible.
The main theatre aboard Wish is state-of-the-art in terms of audio and stage technology and is debuting new productions including The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Seas the Adventure, to rave reviews. The adults-only spaces on Disney Wish are not clustered together in one area like they are on Disney's other ships. Instead, they are sprinkled throughout, with several located right next door to a kids club. While the kids are at the variety of clubs designed for them, adults can take advantage of spaces for the 18-and-older crowd. In fact, that's one reason why I love Disney cruises so much — the kids want to do the kids activities, which means adults get to enjoy amenities designed for us, too. For those willing to spend a little extra (and lucky enough to snag a reservation), the adults-only restaurants on Wish shouldn't be missed.

Vibe is where teens 14 to 17 can watch movies, play games and make the Parisian artist’s loft-inspired space their own. Of note, The Rose is a chic lounge at the entrance of Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté. Describe the cabins. My two friends and I stayed in a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, which has a queen bed and a single convertible sofa, as well as a single pull-down bed; plenty of space for three women. The verandah had two chairs and was a quiet and lovely spot to watch the sunrise (if we were up early!) and the sunset. We might have had to wait ten years for a new Disney Cruise ship, but the wait was certainly worth it.
While lines can get fairly long (20-30 minutes), many are short! We were able to meet all of the classic Disney characters, as well as Captain Hook, Spider-Man, and Chewbacca. For Princess lovers, there is also the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience. Tweens and young teens (11-14 years) get their own hang-out space at Edge, a hip area on deck 5 equipped with tablets, video games and arts and crafts. Teens ages 14–17 are welcome at Vibe, a hip hangout where they can talk tech while playing video games, challenge each other at board games or participate in other counselor-led activities.
For agents looking to start selling the new Disney Wish, she suggests they visit disneytravelagents.com and engage with the line’s business development managers in the field. "The change in the footprint is exciting, and it really allows [in] those spaces for all families to interact,” she said. Nonetheless, smaller venues such as these do drive a greater sense of social mingling onboard, according to Jodi Bainter, director of travel agency sales at The Walt Disney Company. We saw some amazing and elaborate costumes, so feel free to get really into it. Service aboard Wish is personable, prompt and courteous, from the waitstaff to the room stewards to the guest information desk. Staterooms across various categories are designed for those with accessibility needs, featuring roll-in showers, lowered towel bars and closet bars, and accessible vanities.
Vegetarians and vegans will be happy to see that the Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods offers Impossible Burgers and plant-based sausages. Connecting both of these luxe dining options is The Rose, a lounge that offers wine, small bites and other adult-focused items designed for pre- or post-dinner enjoyment. One of Disney Cruise Line’s traditions is its family dining concept in which families rotate through the ships’ three main dining rooms. The Disney Wish features three new restaurants, starting with 1923, an elegant celebration of the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, combining Hollywood glamor with the Disney whimsey. “Be our guest” is a sentiment the crew aboard the Disney Wish takes to heart, and they go above and beyond to make you feel right at home from the moment you step on board. From the cabin stewards to the lifeguards at the pools and beaches to the dining, bars, activities, and island teams, everyone is ready to make your cruise a memorable one.
The Disney Wish Cruise was also ideal for traveling with a large multi-generational group full of different ages, physical abilities, and interests. If one of the kids wanted to go meet Spiderman, and one wanted to visit the Princesses, it was easy to do it all without anyone having to participate in an activity they didn’t enjoy. With the amazing and super safe kids-only Oceaneers Club (ages 3-12), my husband and I were even able to sneak in a little kid-free time to enjoy the adults-only experiences and let my kids have a bit of independence. Nicer shorts and t-shirts would be fine, but no bathing suits or pool cover-ups at dinner.
The digital show is such a huge part of dinner, and although it was cute, I wouldn't want to sit through it again. Plus, there was still the adult-only pool deck and two adult-only dining venues if you wanted to escape. Those who participate in the Uncharted Adventure game will have the ability to unlock a hidden layer of magic all around the ship.
